This Privacy Notice explains how Beijing Like a Local ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, shares and protects personal data when you visit beijinglikelocal.com or book one of our morning experiences. We act as the data controller for the personal data we process about you.

1. Who We Are

Beijing Like a Local is an individual seller based in China, operating the trading name "Beijing Like a Local". You can contact us at hello@beijinglikelocal.com.

2. Personal Data We Collect

  • Booking details: name, email address, selected date, package, number of adults and children, and any guest notes you provide.
  • Communications: messages you send us by email or contact form.
  • Usage and device data: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, pages visited and basic interaction events, collected through cookies and similar technologies.
  • Payment data: card and billing details are collected directly by our payment provider, Paddle. We do not see or store your full card number. We receive a confirmation containing transaction ID, amount, currency, and the email and country you used at checkout.

3. How We Use Your Data and Legal Basis

  • To deliver your booking — confirm reservations, send confirmation emails, coordinate the experience. (Performance of a contract.)
  • To provide customer support — answer your questions, handle changes or refunds via Paddle. (Performance of a contract / legitimate interests.)
  • To operate and improve the website — analytics, debugging, security. (Legitimate interests.)
  • To prevent fraud and protect our service — security monitoring and abuse prevention. (Legitimate interests / legal obligation.)
  • To comply with legal obligations — accounting, tax, and responses to lawful requests.

4. Who We Share Your Data With

  • Paddle — our Merchant of Record, which processes payments, subscription management, tax compliance, invoicing, refunds and chargebacks. See Paddle's Privacy Notice.
  • Service providers (subprocessors) — hosting, database, email delivery, and analytics providers that help us operate the website and send your booking confirmation.
  • Professional advisers — accountants and legal advisers when needed.
  • Authorities — where we are required to disclose data by law or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

We do not sell your personal data.

5. International Transfers

Some of our service providers (including Paddle) are located outside China. When we transfer personal data internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as contractual protections with the recipient.

6. Data Retention

We keep booking and transaction records for as long as necessary to provide the Service and to comply with our legal, accounting and tax obligations (typically up to 7 years). Marketing and analytics data is kept for shorter periods. When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.

7. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including encryption in transit, access controls, and regular review of who has access to systems holding personal data.

8. Your Rights

Subject to local law, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, request correction or deletion, restrict or object to certain processing, request portability, and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@beijinglikelocal.com. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

9. Cookies

We use a small number of essential cookies required for the website to function (for example to remember your booking selections and to keep your session secure). We may use privacy-friendly analytics cookies to understand aggregated usage. Where required by law, we will ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings.

We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest revision.
